WMS has been creating branded games for just about forever although we’d tend to assume that the movie version of The Wizard of Oz came out a little before the accompanying slot game! This title is based specifically on the very first movie, including all of the camp characters that have gone on to become iconic. As with most branded slots, it’s all about the features in reality, although thirty win lines and plenty of line bet options means that the base game can certainly be an exciting one in its own right. The Emerald City was the goal in the movie and it’s pretty important here too as the matching symbol on reels one, three and five will trigger the Oz Pick bonus. There are three choices and they’re each significantly different, which is always a good thing. Players that prefer to get back to the base game as soon as possible will like the instant cash win, while others may prefer the Winged Monkey bonus. This includes eight free spins with an additional bonus symbol added to the board. When it lands, winged monkeys will attack the screen, turning any number of symbols into additional wild cards.

Finally, players can choose to enter the Road to the Emerald City bonus. It’s essentially a series of pick a win rounds, but absolutely perfect for fans of the movie thanks to the way it is themed. Initially, you’ll pick an emerald which could be cash or could be a journey elsewhere. It could be Scarecrow’s field or the Wicked Witch’s castle, or perhaps even the Emerald City itself. No matter where you end up, there’s a cash prize on offer and you don’t even have to click your ruby slippers together to get back to the main board.
